Caterpillar herbivory of sycamore leaves

Herbivory is probably the most widely appreciated interaction between plants and other organisms. The effect of the herbivore is even more striking when viewed during time-lapse movies. This movie clip shows a couple of caterpillars devouring a leaf of a sycamore tree (Platanus occidentalis). I noticed that a succession of caterpillar species (>3) were associated with a single sycamore tree planted in my yard.

This particular sequence was taken using a Canon Digital Rebel tethered to a laptop running the program RemoteCapture 2.7. The photo interval was ~23 minutes.
