Time-lapse photography content
Time-lapse photography compresses the time that events are perceived. This technique blends photography with videography to document incremental changes over time. Processes that would normally be too subtle to detect, such as grass growing, come to life when depicted as a time-lapse video. Currently, there are over 20 videos that you can view. I have organized the iecology content into themes relevant to topics in Biology/Ecology. I hope that this structure will encourage educators to use this content to supplement their teaching materials. Some content is presented in more than one section because of its diverse relevance. Video files are often provided in one to two formats. Some of the content represents embedded videos compressed by either Vimeo or ExposureRoom. These have good compression for web display and will download quickly and display at large resolutions [640x480]). They require either Flash or Java to operate. Refer to my problem solving section if you have troubles. Other videos use H.264 compression (*.mp4 file format) and require QuickTime which is a free video player. These are also compressed for the web but download slower and are displayed at smaller sizes (332x240) than the Vimeo and ExposureRoom videos. On each page, I provide some scientific narrative and details about the different time-lapse projects. All videos were edited and created using Adobe After Effects CS4. Use limits are described here. I am willing to provide content to educators for gratis but please contact me to make arrangements. If you are interested in licensing content or learning about content not shown on this website (e.g. 1080p HDTV 1920 x 1080, 1280x720, etc.) then send enquiries to Kurt Reinhart.
